Newsworthy

Privacy policy

Effective September 22, 2026

Newsworthy does not require an account or build a profile of your news habits.

This policy covers the Newsworthy website, mobile apps and home-screen widgets. For privacy questions, contact the person operating Newsworthy at astrojams1@gmail.com.

Delete your data

Newsworthy has no accounts, so there is no account to close. To delete what Newsworthy keeps about you:

  1. Notifications. In the Newsworthy app, open Settings, then Notifications, and turn off High-score alerts. This deletes your device’s push token, platform and minimum score at once, including the token in delivery records. A token the push service reports as no longer registered is deleted automatically.
  2. Saved readings. Delete the Newsworthy app or clear its data in your device settings. On the website, clear the site’s data in your browser settings.
  3. Support emails. Email astrojams1@gmail.com and ask us to delete your messages, and we will delete them.

What is kept. Technical information from connections, such as IP address, device or browser type, request time and errors, is held in our hosting provider’s logs and expires under that provider’s retention. Public ratings contain no personal information and are kept.

Information we handle

How we use information

We use technical information to operate and protect Newsworthy, diagnose problems and maintain reliability. We use support messages to answer questions and resolve issues. We do not sell personal information, use it for targeted advertising or send marketing emails.

Newsworthy has no ads, subscription, in-app purchases or advertising and engagement analytics SDKs. There is no personalized feed, engagement scoring or behavioral profiling.

Cookies and device storage

Newsworthy does not use advertising or behavioral-tracking cookies. The website uses browser local storage for the last reading; the apps and widgets use local device storage. Our hosting provider may use technical mechanisms needed to deliver and secure the service.

You can clear the website’s saved reading through your browser’s site-data settings. Removing an app or clearing its data removes its locally saved information, subject to your device’s backup and restore settings.

Service providers and sharing

Vercel hosts the website and API and may process technical connection information. Our database stores public ratings, operational records and, if you turn notifications on, your device’s notification registration. Notifications are delivered through Expo’s push service and the notification service of your device’s platform. The service used to produce ratings processes public news material only; the app does not send your browsing history, support messages or a personal profile to it.

Email support is handled through Gmail. These providers may process information in countries other than your own, according to their service terms and applicable privacy safeguards. See Vercel’s privacy notice and Google’s privacy policy.

If you choose to share a reading, your selected app or service handles that share under its own privacy policy. We may also disclose information where required by law or necessary to protect the service or people’s rights.

Retention and security

We keep support correspondence and operational information for as long as reasonably needed to provide support, maintain the service and meet applicable legal obligations. Provider-managed technical logs are also subject to the provider’s retention practices. Saved readings stay on your device until replaced or removed.

We use HTTPS for connections to our service and take reasonable steps to protect information. No online service or storage system can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and rights

You can use Newsworthy without contacting us or creating an account. Notifications are off unless you turn them on in the app’s settings, and you can turn them off there at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of personal information, object to processing, or complain to your local data-protection authority. Email astrojams1@gmail.com to make a request. We may ask for information needed to verify and respond to it.

Children

Newsworthy is a general-audience service and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us so we can address it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service changes. The current version and its effective date will be posted on this page.
